The ocean holds a special place in my heart, as it does for most of us who call this beautiful island home. I was fortunate to be born and raised here on Kodiak and just recently moved back to the island with my family. One of the first things I did coming home was to watch the sunrise over the bay. The color of the sky reflected off the ocean was stunning. I wanted to capture the contentment of gazing out over the ocean, the joy of a fishing boat safely returning home, and the sweetness of lupines and chocolate lilies. There is nothing quite so lovely as Kodiak wildflowers nodding their heads on a hillside overlooking the sea.
